SHAM (Super humble art museum)

My friend Rachel Mueller and I created a mock museum filled with humorously poor reproductions of recognizable works of art. The Uhaul space turned into a serious and clean museum setting with delicately framed pieces, precise measurements, security camera and all. The works of art such as Mona Lisa, Starry Night, and Balloon Dog, had hilariously subtle and not so subtle changes (such as Jeff Koon’s Balloon Dog would be an actual balloon dog). The contrast between the careful curated space and the bizarre pieces created a light hearted and familiar exhibit for the participants. We curated and created the pieces as if they are the original authentic artwork. During the exhibit we acted as mock security guards/expert museum guides/tourists examining the space to help create the serious museum vibe. This idea was simple and fun and did not require a lot of manpower or materials.
